West Ham have lost their second game of the season against Wigan athletic at the DW stadium.  Another poor game has highlighted the Hammer’s main problem this season – scoring goals,  although I must admit Carlton Cole’s disallowed goal was unfortunate to say the least.  Referee Alan Wiley blew the half time whistle just before Cole converted his chance.  That though, is football and this is the Premier League and if you don’t score enough goals you will be relegated, not matter how good your defence is.

On a positive note I was impressed with new signing Diamanti.  This guy will be a threat, it’s clear to see.  Both his free kick and curling shot deserved more.  Hines looked lively but lacks the Premier League experience needed to have a cutting edge, this will come in time Im sure but what concerns me is the present.  Watching Craig Bellamy’s stunning performance for Manchester City against Arsenal made me realise our biggest problem – we never replaced him.  Remember how good we were on the break during away games.

So next up its Liverpool at Upton Park before we travel to rampant a Manchester City.  If we fail to pick up points in these games we could be in the relegation zone come October.  Lets hope we can cause an upset – or two.  Come on you Irons.

P.S. Please except my apologies for the problems the site encountered during yesterdays game.  Both the Live match thread and the Full time report posts were hindered by power problems at the Talking Hammers HQ.  We are currently improving our set up to counter such problems in the future.
